It’s time for another round of five links that have led to better conversations for me in the last wee while.
Screw talking to people about reality television and what’s for dinner. Talk about these things and liven up your conversations. Actually, I take that back. I love talking about what’s for dinner. I just love talking about these five things even more:
1 – The Magic iPod. Be the exact terrible DJ you always wanted to be in your teens and mash up all the hits from the 2000s. I particularly recommend mashing Ludacris’ Move Bitch with Franz Ferdinand’s Take Me Out. As the tagline says “2007 forever”.
2 – Are you food review blogger? Sorry, you have to quit. The Chicken Connoisseur has a YouTube series of chicken shop reviews called The Pengest Munch and they are everything food reviews should be. And yes I know I’m late to the party on this one. Someone told me about it last year and I put it on my list of things to look up. I finally got around to looking it up. Hey, I’ve been busy…
3 – The always wonderful Amanda from Rhyme and Ribbons talks about Diet Culture. Read it and feel smarter, then tell everyone else to read it. That’s what I did.
4 – OMG everyone has been talking about the guy who wants women to glue their labia together to solve the problem of periods, but I’m still not done with the conversation. The terrible logo, the terrible company name, the terrible misogynistic Facebook posts, is this a troll? …there’s so much to unpack.
5 – People are buying dull paintings from thrift stores and livening them up with monsters and movie characters. I want to join in the fun. I don’t have the time to do any such thing, but know that I really, really want to.
